Who we are
Our website address is: https://www.ckcanvas.co.za.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
WhatsApp communications and customer reporting
Effective date: 29 September 2026
We are introducing the CK Customer Reporting integration described below. Automated reporting is being set up; this notice also covers the business WhatsApp conversations used for that reporting.
Who is responsible
CK Canvas, also identified on our website as CK Laser Canvas and Printing Lab, manages the customer information described here. Contact us at cklasers@gmail.com, 082 908 5575, or Plot 55, Klerksdorp, 2571, South Africa. This notice covers our business WhatsApp communications and the CK Customer Reporting integration.
Information used
When you contact our business WhatsApp number, or we contact you about an enquiry or order, we process your WhatsApp number or account identifier, display name, messages, message dates and times, and available delivery or read information. Customer-service records may include the last contact date, whether a later reply was recorded, and follow-up status.
Information comes from our business conversations with you. Where available and appropriate, earlier business conversations may be imported into the reporting system. Files you send through WhatsApp remain part of that conversation. The reporting integration is intended to record message text and activity details; automatic copying of photos, documents and voice notes into Monday is outside its current scope.
Purpose
We use this information to respond to enquiries, manage order-related communication, identify conversations needing attention, and review customer-service activity. Reporting helps us see whom we contacted and whether a subsequent reply was recorded. Staff review follow-up decisions.
Providing information through WhatsApp is voluntary. Without the contact or order details needed for an enquiry, we may be unable to assist through that channel. You can contact us by email instead.
Service providers and access
The integration uses WhatsApp and Meta’s business services for communications, Make for transferring and processing events, and monday.com for customer-service records and reports. These providers process relevant information as part of delivering their services. Authorised CK personnel use the records for the purposes above.
Cloud processing may take place outside South Africa. Applicable provider arrangements and safeguards must support that processing. Each provider also has its own privacy information: WhatsApp privacy policy, Make privacy notice, and monday.com privacy policy.
Retention and protection
We retain records for as long as reasonably needed for customer enquiries, orders, service review and applicable recordkeeping obligations. A report’s date range does not determine how long the underlying conversations are kept. Records should be removed or de-identified when no longer needed, subject to lawful retention requirements.
We take reasonable steps to protect customer information and limit access. Copies in the connected services, technical logs and backups also need to be considered when handling a deletion request.
Privacy requests and data deletion
Email cklasers@gmail.com with the subject Privacy request — CK Customer Reporting. Identify the WhatsApp number you used and explain whether you want access, correction, deletion, or to object to processing. We may request enough information to verify that the records belong to you. Do not send a password or identity document unless we explain why further verification is necessary.
We will assess the request under applicable law and explain the outcome, including any records that must be retained and why. Deletion from CK-controlled reporting records does not necessarily delete information independently retained by WhatsApp or other providers under their own policies.
You may also complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator. Its published POPIA forms include objection, correction/deletion and complaint forms.
Changes
Updates to this notice will appear on this page with a revised effective date.
